What to Wear With a Black Dress in the Fall
The classic little black dress – something every girl needs in her closet. You can dress it up, dress it down and rely on it for most events.
I received a request in particular to style a black dress that was more on the casual side for a follower who is a teacher. So I found an affordable, and comfortable option at Old Navy that fit just that!
6 Ways to Wear a Black Dress
With a Sweater Blazer
This first outfit is the perfect amount of comfort for a teacher. I went with a black on black look, but you could also wear a white or tan sweater blazer here. My flats come in many colors and patterns and are one of my favorite pairs to wear (they're Sam Edelman Rodney Flats). They run a little bit large, but not enough to make me size down. Personally, I think the extra room makes them more comfortable.

With a Moto Jacket and Boots
This outfit is a great way to take your black dress into the cooler months. If you need to warm this outfit up even more you could add black tights. I think this is a great pair of knee high boots and I especially love to wear them with dresses to stay warm. I'm planning a style session for them in the coming weeks!

With a Long Vest
I think more brands need to make long vests. They're hard to find, but one of my favorite layers! This one I'm wearing in particular, I will link it, but I'll warn you that it is thin and not the best quality, but it works. I'll also link a similar style for you that may be a better option.

With a Utility Jacket
For casual days, throw on a utility jacket! I went with booties, but a pair of white sneakers would also look cute with this one!

With a Flannel Top
Bringing out the casual vibes again with a shirt tied around the waist. You can dress this down even more with a pair of sneakers, like the outfit above, but I love my heels for a little height!

With a Denim Jacket
If you watch the style video that goes with this post, you'll see that I belted the dress, but instead of wearing the buckle in the front, I spun it around to be worn in the back (under the jacket). My belt is pretty long to be worn around my waist and I don't like the look of the extra bulk that it adds to the front.

With a Blazer
Last, this option is more dressed up and still super comfortable. I left the belt like the outfit above but added a blazer and pumps for a polished look.
